Love.
Seamus looked around the empty circle, and smiled. All to himself. Usually it was full of students, this was his lucky day. Skateboard in hand, it sprung down, and he jumped onto it. This was his peace time. Seamus did a few tricks, then tried to 'compose' a new one. Not successful. Bored now, he sat down on his board. There were a few empty lolly wrappers floating around the circle, and he snatched one as it bounced past. Stuffing it into his empty pocket, he sighed. There was nothing to do. Skating was okay, but with no one else? He hadn't seen anyone else with skateboards, and it really annoyed him. Couldn't people be a bit more...interesting?
He took the wrapper out again, and it slipped through his fingers, silky and sly. Jumping after it, the weight that had been pinning down the skateboard left, and it began to roll away. Cursing, he swung around, tumbling after that now. After a few steps, he jumped onto it, a body surfer. Exhilarated, exhausted, grinning, and panting, he set it down again, this time firmly pinned. The echoes of footsteps interrupted his thoughts, and he turned, startled. "Hi! Whoever it is!" He shouted. Then he realised his stupidity. What if it was a teacher? They often came here to look for things, and he was purposefully missing Geometry, the worst class in the history of the world. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

It was just after lunch and Rumor had just finished in the bathroom after making sure no one was around. She puked her guts out and was now free to do whatever she wished, since she had a free period now. She looked up in the mirror, her beautiful brown hair straight and hung loosely around her face. Her brown eyes were outlined in black eyeliner and she was wearing a bit of pink eyeshadow. Pink blush and some shiny lip gloss completed the look. Her outfit of choice today was rather plain, she was wearing a pair od Sevens straight jeans with her black Chuck Taylors and a Paul Mitchell tee-shirt that said 'Giving back is the new black'. With a toss of her beautiful hair Rumor left the bathroom.
Rumor walked purposefully through the long, boring halls of Dayton Academy, past the lockers and classrooms. She wasn't really sure where she was going, but there had to be something to do during a free period besides sit in front of some crappy lockers. Besides, it was so depressing in the middle of school, looking at lockers, watching teachers drone on while their students fell asleep. It was weird, a new surrounding that Rum still wasn't quite used to yet, no huge room with her own bathroom and a giant walk-in closet. Her dorm wasn't personalized either and she had to share with another person. Just not home, the main thing that she loved was the fact that her parents weren't here to hover over her.
Rumor exited the building joyfully, a new spring into her step. She was damn glad to be out of that dreary place. The sun was shining and the sky was cloud free mostly, a good day to be outside. She walked around the courtyard and towards the circle, a favorite hangout place amongst the students. When Rum got there she was unsurprised to see someone there, but as she stepped closer, she saw it was that cute sophomore, she had been crushing on. Instead, of moving closer a wave of shyness came over her as she watched him skateboard, so she stood by the pillars.
He was good, she was stunned. Rumor had had a skateboard once, but had been rather useless on it and gave up. She fell many times and got bored with the trying and failing. He obviously practiced and really loved it, she recognized the expression, she had one almost identical to it when she was performing. Rum watched him intently, just taking it all in. However, when Seamus's board started to roll away, she stepped back a bit and turned her head a bit. When he had pinned it down, she stepped forward again and then she heard his voice, time to shine.
Rumor stepped forward. She stepped out from behind the pillars and moved boldly towards him, not caring about anything anymore. "Hi." She said brightly, a grin on her face. "I'm Rumor." She added. Actually, most people knew her, she may have only been a Freshman, but as an 'IT' Girl she had gotten a reputation, but still all those etiquette lessons she had suffered through as a child had had an effect on her. Lightly twirling a strand of black hair around her index finger, Rumor asked "What's your name?" [/blockquote]

Hate.

She just walked towards him. Seamus gawped. It wasn't like she was stunningly beautiful or something. She was just...inspiring. Seamus groanded. Education was affecting his ability to think dumb. The girl said something. Short. He didn't catch it. Concentrating harder now, he listened properly. "I'm Rumor. What's your name?" Nodding, he decided it would be a sensible idea to reply. "Hi. My names Seamus. Thats shay-mus, by the way." He sort of vaguely recognised her, maybe from one of the Whores. No. She seemed too nice for that. Nerds? Yeah. Possible. Definitely not from Scene, he'd know her. And it was rude to ask. He left it hanging. He liked her. Smiling slightly, he lifted up his board. "Wanna turn? I can hold you, if, if you want." It would be funny to see her attempts. He suspected she would fall off before she even got going. That was what usually happened with girls and skateboards. He'd found from years of careful observing, that girls and skateboards clash. Terribly. He looked at her, waiting for Rumors decision. Rumor. It was an interesting name. A beautiful one though. As Rumor walked toward him, she watched him watch her. She liked having this kind of attention, it was good for her self-esteem. Rum would never admit that she secretly had what most people would call low self-esteem, it never showed either, she walked boldly, a bright smile on her lips and a slight stagger that was model worthy. As she walked, Rumor was also noting how incredibly adorable he was. That combination of dirty blonde hair and brown eyes was so perfect. He was good-looking and a good skater, but to Rumor that could mean nothing without personality. As usual the girl who had everything wanted someone with it all. Inside, her mind Rumor wanted to touch her stomach, play with her hair, make sure she was perfect, but she could never let anyone especially a boy see that side of her. It was her dirty little secret.
Instead, she continued approaching Seamus with confidence. She liked him and wanted him to like her, even if it was just as a friend and she had read in CosmoGirl that guys like girls with confidence, they called it sexy. Rumor wanted him to think of her as something other than 'that sweet little freshman' or whatever. When Rum reached him, she smiled her innocent little smile and poured on the sweet, politeness. After Rumor stated the obvious and posed her own question for him, she tried to think where she had seen him before or what clique he was in. Definitely not 'IT', she'd know him if he was an 'IT' like her. He looked like he could be a jock or charmer, so Rumor figured it would be OK to talk to him. Besides, many of her friend had told her that rules were made to be broken, so she decided to not care about this.
Rumor's train of thought was interrupted a few seconds later when he spke. Seamus, what an interesting name. It was definitely ethnic, not something that Rum was unfamiliar with, most of her cousin's had more Spanish name's than hers, her mom and dad were just weird. Of course, he probably thought that she was from some sort of clinically insane family because of her name. Normal people just didn't name their kids things like Rumor, it was like naming someone Gossip or something. She was used to that by now and liked having a unique name, but a lot of people weren't. Names, that was definitely an odd train of thought. Names weren't something that she usually spent a lot of time on, normally Rumor would just keep going on with conversation and stuff. Now, her thoughts really were screwed up. Oh, the crazy things that cute guys could do to you.
There was a few seconds of awkward silence and in an effort to keep herself from saying something stupid, Rumor looked down at his skateboard. It was a fairly decent board and looked like it got a lot of use. She was still in middle of her board examination when he spoke up again. Rum looked up and listened to his question. Did she? She didn't know, he said he would hold her and that was a plus, but the last time she tried skateboarding she had broken her leg in two places, an experience that she didn't particularly want to repeat. Still, the fact that he would help her was reassuring. If he let her get hurt, she could just get her daddy to pretty much sue him. That was definitely a plus to having rich, powerful parents. She smiled and in fake shyness said "I would love to." She then looked to him for more directions.
{sorry, this took so long. i've had a lot of shit going on between family and school.} [/blockquote]
