When I was young, All of these things didn't matter. But now times have changed, And I wasn't paying attention.
The old acoustic that he now held in his hands was neither his nor properly tuned, though he had tried many times to get the strings to sound right. He had given up, shrugging, guessing it was a lost cause. This college really was in need of new instruments, he mused, as he looked around at the beat up drums, xylophones, trumpets, and the other things that resided in this room. He was slightly disappointed, for he had expected something more... glamorous. He hadn't really any need of coming to college, for his job was set, his future already decided, the money rolling in from the people who adored his music. He wasn't in anyway vain about it, however, but he could have never really called himself a normal kid. It wasn't just the fact that he was signed to Rockabye labels which had deprived him from this. Before he had gotten his record deal, he had been a very lonely kid indeed, only turning to his guitar for the comfort he so craved. And although his social life was much better now, he couldn't help but to feel shy at times. He guessed that would always remain with him, and it didn't seem like such a bad thing.
He strummed the old guitar once and sighed at the unsatisfactory sound it made. He really wished he had thought to bring his own, but he had not anticipated the free period in which he had much time to himself before his next class. The intelligent thing most likely would have been to go get something to eat a nearby restaurant, but he had shunned that idea, wanting to give himself enough time to find the classroom. He wasn't accustomed to the large and many big buildings, and navigating through them was, well, a bitch, to put it quite plainly. He hadn't been in a real school in a few years, and his highschool had by no means been as large as this college, or even the boarding school across the street. When he had first arrived in the new place he had stood staring at the happy teenagers as they filled the best years of their lives, surrounded by friends, bothered by the presence of homework. He had wondered what it would have been like if he had had an education like that, if he had not gone on tour, if he had not been so shy. But he did not regret any of it.
Despite the guitar's off sound, he began to play a random tune, picking out the notes with his long, pale fingers that have always aided him in doing the one thing he loved. Some found his fingers very curious, and some found it repulsive, seeing as they had been mistaken as spider legs before. Smiling a bit at that memory, he switched chords and played a familiar tune, one that he had written himself. Before he could stop it he was soon singing the words that he had written just a few months ago, letting the soft lyrics fall out of his mouth and fill the room. He didn't feel any jerk of anticipation or nervousness, for he was alone, and this suited him just fine. He was quite happy sitting crosslegged on the floor by himself, surrounded by the many beat up, yet still musical, instruments. This is how it had always been with him, though. He had found much salvation in expressing himself alone, and a familiar peace returned to him, something he hadn't felt since coming to this new, big, crazy college. His voice grew in volume and his hazel eyes closed blissfully, enjoying the moment and the music that now filled the once-silent room.

.Try to let go of the truth. .The battles of your youth. A 19 year old Gabriel walked down the hallway toward the music room. The place where he and his twin sister normally retreated to play music and let go of the daily stress of being a collage student. He carried his tan acoustic guitar by the neck beside him. A lot of people tried to stay away from him because it was rumored around the school that he tried to set one of the school buildings on fire. The boy was wearing a worn pair of black skinny jeans and a red t-shirt that was mostly covered by a black zip up hoodie. He was also wearing black and white converse along with a red studded belt. He looked like the ‘emo’ type, but the truth was he just liked black, and the ‘punk’ style. He paused before stepping though the door way. Someone had beaten him to the silence of the music room. He didn’t recognize the voice and the guitar needed some tuning, but it still sounded pretty good. After a moment of listening he walked into the room. “Your good” He said not caring that his dyed black hair had fallen into his icy blue eyes. He pushed a chair away from the wall with a foot and sat down the chain that hung from his belt loop made a slight ‘clicking’ sound against the chair leg. He began plucking a few strings with a red pick and turned a few tuners to his guitar. “Do you come here alot?” Asked normally quiet Gabriel, but he was dying for a conversation.

She just vanished into a thick wind of change.
Through his singing, somehow a laugh managed to escape his lips and into the room. Once the first one had sounded, there was no stopping the rest, which sputtered from him as he struggled to contain his amusement, breathing deeply, his long fingers never halting in their flying dance. To calm his persistent giggles, he began to sing again, a blissful smile appearing on his lips in between words. This is what he lived for. Although the concerts were nice, and to see his fans bobbing their heads or their heels inbeat with his music always made his day, playing alone always caused a certain calmness in him. Moments like these didn't seem to come along too often anymore, for on the tour bus there wasn't much privacy, and at night he was either too drunk, too stoned, or too tired to bother with strumming his guitar again. He had expected a certain kind of peacefulness from college, and he was happy not to say he was disappointed, or that he hadn't achieved it. And it was only his first day.
Alec ceased his singing and toned his guitar plucking down a bit until it was a soft background noise. The change in music was rather abrupt and unexpected, though there wasn't any true reason for it, but the fact that his little bout of laugher and excitement had ended and he had returned to himself. Though the toothy smile never left his handsome face, never faded out into that look of pure sullenness that he is so famed for. But, in truth, he hadn't glared despairingly with that look in quite awhile now. One could say he had grown up past that little bout of unhappiness, the one that had caused him so much pain. He may ask, however, how does one recover from such a nasty heartbreak? Sometimes, he still thinks of April and the thought of her causes a dull, thudding pain inside of his chest, so subtle that it is almost unnoticeable. He does not know which is worse; the fact that the pain has ended or the fact that he barely feels anything for her anymore.
Alec shook his dark messy hair out of his hazel eyes and repositioned the guitar in his lap to a more comfortable position, glancing down as he did so. He was dressed in usual Alec Madi style - bootleg cut jeans that weren't too tight, a light blue sweater, and old converse. He rarely dresses up for anything, and though he does think that he looks rather dashing in a tux (to put it in a sarcastic way) he likes his casual clothes much better. And so he was quite comfortable sitting there on the floor, that happy grin still plastering his face.
Someone walked in then, and he looked up to see who had intruded on his playing, the smile falling from his face lest he look like a grinning idiot but the amused expression staying. It was a boy, perhaps around his age, wearing black skinny jeans and a red shirt, which was almost covered up by his black zip-up hoodie. Alec wondered briefly whether the college kid noticed that his ensemble was one that was so dark, but he shrugged it off. Afterall, he had seen some pretty strange outfits in his day, and he wasn't one to judge someone on their appearance. Hell, if anyone did that to him, they'd probably see him as a morose eighteen year old. Oh wait, that's exactly what he was. He felt a little embarrassed that this man had been listening in on his moment of vulnerableness, though he didn't let it faze him.
"Nah, this is my first day here. What about yourself?" He said, his voiced marred only slightly by the southern accent that he had been trying to get rid of ever since leaving home.

.Come break me down. .Bury me, bury me. 'Nah, this is my first day here. What about yourself?' He heard him answer. Gabriel, being the kind boy he was tipped his head sightly “In that case, welcome to Dayton Academy” He didn’t normally welcome the new kids, he was just about always quiet, just sitting back and watching the days tick by. “I come here to get away from the stress of collage life” He said with a slight smile before glancing back down at his guitar running the pick over the strings lightly a few times, before looking back up. “By the way, I’m Gabriel” He introduced himself, hoping he didn’t sound to forward, since he had just walked in on this guy and then started talking to him. For all he knew this guy may just be wanting him to leave, but Gabriel always at least tried to start off on a good foot with people. [Sorry it took me forever to reply, my internet is giving me problems... and I’m vey sorry it’s so short, but I have to go]
