Name: Zayden
Gender: Male
Age&&Year: 20&&USF Sophomore
Desired Clique: Scene
Family:
Mike Conway - Father - 45 - Musician
Shelly Conway - Mother - 43 - Actress
Connor Conway - Brother - 16 - Student
Kyrie Conway - Sister - Would be 11 - Deceased
Personality: Zay is... Complicated, to say the least. Like Shrek says, he's 'like and onion', with many layers to him. Not many people get past the first two or three, for varying reasons. Either they thought he was aloof and cold, or he was too quiet, or he wasn't friendly enough, or he was too sad, something along those lines. Under all of it, he's one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, you just have to get there first. The thing is, Zay won't try to be your friend, he just doesn't make the effort. If you want to get to know him, you have to do almost all of the work. He's not going to be like a dog and come you, you have to go to him. It takes work to get him to thaw out, but from there the going's pretty easy. He really wants someone to come along who won't just see the mysterious musician, but who will search under that and find the real him. Because even he hardly knows who he is anymore, and he needs help from someone real instead of his medicine.
At first impression, Zay doesn't seem like a nice person. He's quiet, aloof, sort of cold, and totally closed off. He can't help it, Kyrie's death did that to him, and he can't change that. He doesn't really talk unless you approach him, he keeps his mouth shut and just watches and listens. It makes him a really good person to tell your problems to, because he'll actually listen, but it makes him a horrible person to have a conversation with if you don't know him. Zay's also anti-social. He doesn't go out and meet new people, he stays home and keeps to himself. He tells himself that he doesn't mind it, and usually he can fool himself. But when he feels really down, he knows it's just a lie and that he wants someone to make him feel better. After you've talked at him for awhile and he's sees that you're persistent, he'll start to open up to you. He might make a reply that's more than a one word answer, or make a small joke. You'd have to be listening carefully to catch it though, for two reasons. One, he speaks softly, and two, he has a very dry sense of humor. But if you appreciate that type, then he can be quite funny if he wants to. It's just that he doesn't often want to. After that, he continues to open up. It's a slow process though, and if you want to gain his confidence then you'll have to be very patient with him.
That's about as much as you can explain about Zay's personality. If you go past that you get yourself in a muddle, trying to figure everything out. And anyways, he would have a hard time telling you about himself, even if you were a close friend. If someone can come along and straighten him out, well, then that would be fantastic. But he's slowly losing hope that that person will ever turn up, and it's not helping his already poor attitude and outer layer.
History: Zayden was born on March 30th, 1987 to Mike and Shelly Conway. He had no idea of how many twists and turns awaited him in his life, or he would have asked for a paper bag at the beginning of the ride. But the drama didn't start for a couple of years. As an infant and toddler Zay was pretty average, walking a little late, talking a little early, all those things parents obsess over. He enjoyed being an only child, and loved all the attention his mother and father gave him. So it was a good thing when, four years later, his little brother Connor came along. Zay wasn't given nearly as much attention as before, which saved him from growing up to be a spoiled brat. But it did set him up for a rocky relationship with his brother. He loved his parents dearly, no matter how many fights they got into along the way. It took him a long time to accept Connor though, and even now they're not as close as they maybe should be. Even with that though, Zay doesn't have a bad home life, he just gets jealous sometimes.
When Zay entered school he was like any other boy and got into some trouble, but he wasn't a bad student. He generally paid attention, generally got good grades, and generally stayed out of trouble. Of course there were the exceptions, but he managed pretty well. By the time he was in third grade he had started piano lessons, and was showing quite an aptitude for it. That was also the year his little sister was born. Kyrie was doomed from birth. Born with a severe case of muscular dystrophy and a weak immune system, the little girl was never very healthy. And either worse or better, you decide, Zay loved her more than anyone else, even his parents. He was only nine at the time, but he was everything an older brother should be to her, everything he should have been to Connor. He looked after her when she was sick, played with her when she was in the mood, cheered her up when she was sad, and protected her from the terrors of the world. They were very about as close as you could be, even with the nine year age difference. Zay could solve any problem Kyrie had, and she relied on her big brother for pretty much everything. Both of them were too young to grasp what her disease meant, which was probably a good thing, or else it might have changed their relationship.
When they were together, they were both happy kids. Zay had no problems to speak of, and his musical talent grew as he did. His parents had started to notice it, especially since his father was a guitarist in a band. They had plans for him, and Zay knew some of them and was totally cool with it since he loved music so much. He was in tenth grade when Kyrie died. Needless to say, Zay and his family were heartbroken. She had only been seven, and her death had a huge effect on all of them, especially Zay. He went from being a fairly outgoing and cheerful kid to a reserved, quiet, almost depressed boy. He fell into depression almost instantly, and it lasted for years. He slowly began to get better in his freshman year, but he still take medication, and isn't quite out of it. He couldn't accept Kyrie's death for years, and though he's beginning the journey, it's nowhere near even halfway. He thinks about her and mourns her passing every day. Some might think it's excessive, but he could care less. She was his little sister, and he loved her more than anyone could possibly understand. In the back of his mind, Zay couldn't shake the feeling that it was his fault she died, that he could have stopped it if only he was a better brother. The only thing that kept him from losing all hope and committing suicide was his music. It was his anchor during the worst parts, and it's one of the few things pulling him out of depression. Anyone will tell you that he's really good, except for Zay. He keeps his talent hidden, afraid that his dreams will come crashing down, just like his life did.

Appearance: If you had to use one word to describe Zayden's appearance it would have to be mysterious. Depending on how you see people though, you could either see a bad boy or a sweet heart underneath that layer. Some days he looks more like one than the other, but he constantly goes back and forth, like he can't decide how he wants to be perceived. However, no matter what 'look' he goes for, Zay can't hide his good looks, and sometimes he's glad of that fact, and sometimes it's just the opposite. See, his appearance gets him noticed, usually in a good way. But he doesn't always like that, and sometimes curses his parents for giving him such good genes. That only happens now and then though, and usually he's grateful of what he was given.
Let's go from the top down. Zay's face isn't a work of art, no, that would be exaggerating. But he does get many compliments on it, so you could go as far as to call him hot. His hair is black, plain and simple. It brushes his jawline at its longest, with bangs falling across his eyes. It follows the 'skater' style with a messy and shaggy look. It's also fairly thick, and he spends a lot of time and money on it to make it look good. His next feature is his eyes. They're light blue, and very bright. Depending on what he's wearing they can either darken or lighten in color, sometimes looking like crystal, and other times almost the color of the ocean. If you know him well enough, or are perceptive, you can almost always tell what mood he's in from his eyes. No matter how hard he tries, his emotions play out in them like an open book, even if the rest of his face is expressionless. After his eyes is his nose. It's fairly large, and straight as a needle. His lips are slightly thin, and light pink. He has a small mole on his left cheekbone, one on his nose, and one on his right cheek. His skin is lightly tanned, but not too much since he doesn't spend an excessive amount of time outside.
Next is his body. He's a tall boy, standing at six feet and two inches. His parents always made fun of him for it since he ended up being taller than both of them, saying that they must have gotten the wrong baby by mistake. Zay's also leanly muscled, and doesn't have a lot of fat on him. He's not super skinny, just trim. And don't make fun of him for it, or you'll be in for a surprise when he decks you. It's a touchy subject for him, and he eats a lot to make up for it, though he doesn't really gain any weight. He has broad shoulders, and long arms and legs. His fingers are long as well, which helps him play his instruments. Zay has large feet, a size thirteen, and it always bugs him when he tries to get new shoes. Other than that, he's quite happy with his body shape, and is hardly self conscious at all. However, that wasn't always the case. He used to be very aware and caring of what he looked like, but it wore off with time. That's not to say he doesn't care what he looks like, he just doesn't care what other people think anymore. And that led to an expansion with his style. Originally he would only wear dark, quiet clothes that didn't draw a lot of attention to him. Now he tries different colors, and he's become quite fond of blues and greens. His style is hard to stereotype. He wears a mixture of emo, skater, and artsy clothes. It doesn't bother him though, much the opposite. He likes that people can't immediately set him aside as one thing or another, he likes that he can keep them guessing.
